PUFFIN RINGING ON SKOKHOLM

Tuesday of last week Steve Sutcliffe and his team of Ringers arrived on Skokholm to ring Puffins. Wendy, Richard, Renate, John and Caroline all set to the task. Helped by Jerry (warden) Will and Theresa ( volunteers on the Island) We ringed 57 Puffins. The teamwork was great and we all enjoyed the beautiful sunny day on the Island. Visitors watched the ringing with interest.
I enjoyed visiting the cottage now furnished and with pictures in place. It all looked great. The weather has not been kind to visitors this season with quite a few trips cancelled due to bad weather. The Island ponds are all full which is unusual at this time of year this  might bring some interesting migrants in the autumn.
The visitors who did make it were all falling in love with the Island which is not surprising.

Deliveries and work parties are due to start again in August for the next lot of refurbishment mainly dealing with improving the water supply. More news to come as the work gets underway.
